Jewish Leaders For Life
So I sought for a man among them
who would make a wall,
and
would stand in the gap before Me on behalf of the land,
that I
should not destroy it; but I found no one.
(Ezekiel
22:30)
It
is difficult in the strange, unsavory times we live in to find people of
faith, courage and moral character willing to stand in the gap...to take
the high road G-d requires by speaking candidly and truthfully about hot-button
issues such as abortion and euthanasia. The fact that partial birth
abortion is even an issue for discussion is blood-chilling. That one must
be afraid to courageously defend prayer in school or the sanctity of life, when
children kill without concern, tells me this society needs to chart a new
course. Those who profane G-d's word, the Torah, will not appear on this
list. Therefore, it should come as no surprise that there are so few names
on this page.
Jews
For Life is providing visitors with information on Jewish Leaders who, among
hateful opposition, consistently speak out for life. Some are rabbis,
others journalists and radio commentators. We hope to expand this list as
time goes by. If you know of someone who is Jewish, and whose life and
work has been dedicated to preserving the sanctity of life, please e-mail me at:
LOTEKCHOW@aol.com.
Thanks,
and God bless you all.

Rabbi Daniel Lapin
- An
Orthodox rabbi, businessman, author, syndicated talk show host, and speaker,
Rabbi Lapin is the president of Toward Tradition (http://www.towardtradition.org),
a nonprofit education
organization, and founder of Cascadia Business Institute. Rabbi Lapin is
the author of the critically-acclaimed book, "America's Real War,"
which confronts the social issues dividing our nation, and offers new hope for
positive change from the perspective of traditional Orthodox
Judaism.
Rabbi Yehuda Levin
- Here's are two
quotes from Rabbi Levin's website, in an article entitled "Fooling
America's Jews:" "Atheism,
Gay Marriage, Intermarriage, Non-Kosher Food, Partial-Birth Abortion - all of
these are legitimate mainstream ideas within Reform "Judaism."
Judaism has lost more Jews
through the efforts of Reform than through Hitler's gas ovens."
Gutsy? Absolutely, but true...and somebody's got to say it. Founder
of Jews For Morality, Brooklyn Orthodox Rabbi Yehuda Levin is an outspoken
critic of liberal Jewish ideology that vigorously promotes a dangerous
legislative agenda at odds with traditional Jewish teachings. Rabbi Levin
unabashedly proclaims Judaism as a pro-life faith, and his speeches and writings
candidly explain why our culture is in decline. He attends the March For
Life on Washington every year as a guest speaker, and works with other Orthodox
Jews, and Christian groups to get out the pro-life message. Jews For
Morality
(http://www.jewsformorality.org)
offers numerous articles indexed by subject, covering all moral issues of the
day.
Rabbi Simon Jacobson
- "Birth is G-d
saying you matter." This is Rabbi Jacobson's slogan and can be found
on the introductory page of his website, The Meaningful Life Center (http://www.meaningfullife.com.)
Having listened to Rabbi Jacobson's broadcasts here in New York (Sunday nights,
WEVD 1050AM, 6 - 7 p.m. EST), what I value most is the rabbi's personal
touch; as if he is talking directly to you. Each week, the program covers
a different topic. He imparts hope, understanding, and offers new
directions to help you recognize your purpose, your destiny in life. Rabbi
Jacobson conveys a very caring and sensitive approach to the deep personal
conflicts we experience, and has much to offer floundering Jewish souls who are
desperately searching for their faith, and need a place to nest. There is
a search engine, and many articles on the site can be accessed by subject.
A JFL visitor directed me to a link that is an outstanding
transcript of a radio show, hosted by Rabbi Jacobson, on the
subject of Abortion.
Dr.
Howard Hurwitz - Dr.
Hurwitz is chairman of the International Committee for Holocaust Truth, and
President of the Family Defense Council, Inc. Dr. Hurwitz is vilified by
leaders of the radical homosexual organizations, because he dared attack the New
York Museum of Jewish Heritage for including a "gay victims of Hitler"
special exhibit, thereby trivializing the
extermination of millions of Jews in the death camps. The fact that Dr.
Hurwitz was one of a few lonely Jewish voices defending the memory of Jewish
Holocaust survivors is shameful, and he is to be commended for his efforts in
the face of militant opposition. Dr. Hurwitz is an outspoken critic of
homosexuality and his website can be seen at http://www.familydefensecouncil.com
Paul
Greenberg - Pulitzer
Prize winning journalist Paul Greenberg is one of a handful of writers who
pens columns in defense of life, exposing the hypocrisy of
the other side (a recent example is his essay, "Look Away, Look Away, The
Rage for RU-486," indicating the many health concerns associated with the
drug, overlooked by our "pro-choice" friends). Editorial page
editor of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette, Mr. Greenberg is an exemplary writer
who frequently criticized the Clinton administration. Last year he wrote a stinging commentary denouncing the Supreme
Court's decision to uphold infanticide. As National Right To Life's
Dave Andrusko states: "There are those writers whose talent is so
sublime it is obviously a gift from God." Mr. Greenberg's columns are
regularly featured on the Jewish World Review's website (http://www.jewishworldreview.com.)
Don Feder
- Columnist
and editorialist writing for the Boston Herald, Don Feder's essays are insightful and informative, covering the gamut of issues
including abortion, our Constitution in crisis, school prayer, Big tobacco, gun
control, illegal drugs, the liberal media bias, feminist hysteria, etc. (Mr. Feder is
my favorite columnist, so you know he must be terrific.) An observant Jew,
Mr. Feder often sides with the so-called "Christian extremists" whose
views are more in sync with traditional Judaism than the mainstream Jewish
organizations. He is the author of two books: "A Jewish Conservative
Looks At Pagan America," and "Who's Afraid of the Religious
Right?" From the inside sleeve of 'Religious Right:' "Debunking
the myth that liberalism is the natural social expression of Judaism, Feder not
only defends the agenda of the "Christian right" but identifies the
real extremists: the anti-religious, amoral elites that have shoved
Judeo-Christian morality to society's margins, and their own ideology down
everyone else's throats."
Liberals, be forewarned: your inane viewpoints and frivolous arguments
will fall flat against Don Feder's logic! Mr. Feder's articles are
available online at http://www.jewishworldreview.com.
Mona
Charen - Syndicated
columnist and political analyst, Mona Charen began her career as editorial
assistant at the National Review. She worked as a speechwriter for Nancy
Reagan, and later served as speechwriter for Jack Kemp during his 1986
presidential campaign. She is a panelist on the CNN show Capital
Gang. Ms. Charen writes with depth, realism and clarity, and is
unapologetic in her strong support for Israel, and the hardline policies that
have sustained that beleaguered country over the years. She is pro-life, and has written
many essays criticizing liberal abortion legislation, and the deplorable recent
actions of the U.S. Supreme Court on infanticide. Her columns can be
read at http://www.jewishworldreview.com.
Dr. Laura
- Although
her TV show was cancelled, syndicated
radio talk-show host Dr. Laura Schlesinger is a force to be reckoned with. She is a hardliner when it comes to social issues, and that gets
the left really peeved. But when liberals are peeved, you must be doing
something right. Dr. Laura is a moralist, strong pro-lifer and adoption
advocate. She is also the President of The Dr. Laura Schlessinger
Foundation, profits of which help abused and neglected children and families
in need. Dr. Laura has a "Warrior of the Month" initiative that
has propelled people to get involved in their communities by performing
charitable works and acts of kindness, in particular toward helping
children. As a former librarian familiar with the liberal ideologies that
predominate in the education professions, I admire Dr. Laura's crusade against
on-line pornography in public libraries, which can have devastating effects on
children. Her website is: http://www.drlaura.com.
It is critical
for pro-life groups and organizations to help get out the
vote to protect human life.
Whether you are
a Democrat, Republican or Independent voter, Jews For Life will
provide news and insights into abortion laws, Judaism, and
women’s issues.
